He was born in 1964, and grew up in a town very much like Mayberry from The Andy Griffith Show. Perhaps because he grew up in a Christian family (his father was a Presbyterian minister), he still to this day prefers the older songs and TV shows....he appreciates the innocence of the era and the amazing cultural and social changes that happened in the 60's and 70's. He's always loved music, and his radio career started in 1984 at WASU, the college radio station for Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. He had a knack for it and got a job right out of college at an oldies station in Fayetteville, North Carolina. There he continued his love for classic songs of all types, from Big Band and Elvis, to the British Invasion, to the great rhythm and blues songs of the period. That company transferred him to a radio station in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1988, and he's been in Myrtle Beach ever since. It's hard to find oldies radio stations anymore, but Myrtle Beach is a retirement destination, and every year more and more retirees from all over the country move here to South Carolina. And guess what kind of music they like to listen to? The trivia question segments are one of the most popular segments on his morning show. From playing instrumental TV themes, to short clips for Name That Tune, to questions about the greatest actors and actresses and their movies and TV shows. For over a quarter of a century, Jim has been blessed to be able to play the songs he loves and live in a beautiful beach town. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
