Born in SE London in 1913, Paul Baker was educated at Merchant Taylor's School and in 1931 joined the then well known builders Holland & Hannen and Cubitts Ltd. Paul Baker was called to the Bar in 1949 (MT) and in the early 1950s was a liberal Party parliamentary candidate, later chairman of the London Party. In 1961 he was admitted a lay Reader in the church of England, receiving an MBE in 1986 for his services as Regional Secretary for Greater London.
