Jesus does so much in the eyes of this small child and shows him more love than he has ever known that his ways inspire the child to make a promise stating when he grows up, he will do his very best to be as loving and kind as Jesus. Matthew 18:3: And he said: 'Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.' Bible verses as this and others teaching on the ways we are to come to God as children is where the author gathered a lot of her inspiration for this story of such warmth and truth.
