But you shall seek the place where the Lord your God chooses, out of all your tribes, to put His name for His dwelling place; and there you shall go. There you shall take your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes...and the firstborn of your herds and flocks. (Deut.12:2-6). The Lord has chosen Jerusalem. But the nations have raged against her with unrelenting and prideful aspirations of conquest, and with political schemes and violent onslaughts against her peace which continue to this present time. This book unfolds the windswept, tear-stained history of Jerusalem's centrality in the Lord's plan of salvation, including the cruel and sorrowful events of past centuries. This book also looks to the future purposes and destiny of Jerusalem and the battles, captivities, and deliverances that are still yet to come. Most importantly, this book looks forward in expectation that in the fullness of time, the Messiah will march with indignation, zeal, and fiery jealousy for His beloved mountain and will rescue Jerusalem from those who hate her, and as the greater David, He will take up His rightful throne. For the Law will go forth from Zion, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem! (Isaiah 2:3).
