He is frequently heard on radio and gives talks and lectures on children's literature. Michael was the Children's Laureate for 2007–2009 and the winner of the Eleanor Farjeon Award. He lives in London. David Tazzyman is the bestselling illustrator of the Mr Gum books (Egmont) which have won a multitude of awards, including the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. David grew up in Leicester, and studied illustration at Manchester Metropolitan University.
