OverviewThis book is about Jefferson, a town in the South Park Basin of Colorado. It sit's and 9,500 feet. Much of Jefferson's history is directly linked to the Denver, South Park and Pacific narrow-gauge railroad that reached the town in 1879. The railroad eventually linked Denver with the gold and silver mining operations in the mountains west of the Queen City of the Plains. Jefferson has a rich history, exposing the pioneer spirit of those who settled there and took pride in their town and its environs. This book, sponsored by the Jefferson Community Civic Association, provides a snippet of what life was like in the town's formative years and what it is today. Much of the book's narrative comes from the impressions and memories of those who actually called Jefferson home.
