OverviewJasmine loves her new home at the Living Free Animal Sanctuary, along with her other two donkey friends, Eeyore and Donald. With her large ears, she listens to all of the beautiful sounds around her. One night, the sounds she hears are very frightening, and she discovers that Eeyore is in danger. I treasure the many times I have heard Ray, lovingly referred to as Cowboy, repeat it to our visitors. I am a volunteer at Living Free and War Horse Creek. Though this place is primarily a sanctuary for animals, in many ways, it is also a sanctuary for my daughter and me. We come to serve the beloved animals, but they always give back far more than we could ever give to them. They teach us how to listen well, to be fully present, and to be a better human being. Most importantly, they teach us to love more freely, as their Creator is the Author and Giver of Love for all who inhabit this beautiful world (Job 12:7-10 and I John 4:19). I have always loved animals and art. Family pets held a special place in our home and included dogs, horses, hamsters, bunnies, and cats. I am now the proud owner of two sweet dogs of my own, Rosy and Lily! While working on the illustrations for this book, I enjoyed visiting Living Free and walking the grounds with my mom, Sonja, Aunt Cathy, Cousin Addison, and her dog, Jasper, who was adopted from Living Free and served as the inspiration for one of my drawings!
