Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2016 Verified Purchase This is a beautifully illustrated picture book and a delightful story about caring for others. Even though it is well before Christmas, I bought this for my grandchildren ages 4 and 6. Both loved it (we read it three times straight through!). The detailed illustrations were a big hit with lots of things to look at and talk about. The story was simple enough for the 4 year old, yet had enough complexity for the 6 year old. I was especially glad that the story provided me the opportunity to talk about ""caring for another person"" and ""how that can make you feel good too."" This story has my grandchildren not only looking forward to Christmas, but thinking about what ""caring gifts"" they can make, or what ""gifts of their time and love"" they can give to their cousins, parents and grandparents for Christmas instead of ""just buying stuff."" I'm very excited to see how quickly both kids understood the concepts, and how they kept pointing out how happy the Snowman, Jasmine, the Sun and even the birds were in the end. Write more like this one, please!!! 5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Whimsy does it again. Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2018 Verified Purchase I last compared him as a Dr. Seuss when I wrote a review on ""Who Put the P in pneumonia?"" I'm so glad I found that Mr. Whimsy had a holiday book for children. Jasmine and the snowman is indeed a sweet, charming book that adults will enjoy reading to their children and I totally expect my nephews to enjoy it as well. Bonnie Bright's illustrations are wonderful in the expressive faces on humans and imaginary animals and inanimate objects. I love the decision Mr. Whimsey and Bonnie made to go from black to white when Jasmine enters her world of magic. Beautiful message for everyone and great holiday stocking stuffer! Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2016 I highly recommend this short story, beautifully illustrated, book. The author, Marc Frederic (AKA Mr. Whimsey), has written a beautiful message about caring and sharing. I've personally known this author for many years and have enjoyed reading his many children's books. I particularly enjoyed how the book begins in black and white, expressing loneliness, and changes into color expressing joy and sharing, as the story progresses. It makes for a great holiday stocking stuffer and something that will surely be enjoyed throughout the year. LANA & JIM SPEER Author InformationMarc Frederic has written creatively during the vast majority of his life. His right brain has produced writings on various subjects in numerous genres, while his left brain, as a financial advisor with a major brokerage firm, enjoyed successfully guiding clients through the maze of financial markets. Now retired from the financial industry to pursue and convey his writing ability, Marc shares his talent not simply by writing books, but through his special skill of quoting many of his works from memory. His alter-ego, Mr. Whimsy, was created during a book publishing class in 2004, when other students, knowing that Marc's publishing company was named World of Whimsy Productions, continuously referred to him as such.Mr. Whimsy, as he is now known in book circles, writes not simply for youngsters, but for the child within the adult. As he likes to say to grown-ups, ""We each have one inside us. We all are built that way. It's fun to let them guide us. Can yours come out and play?"" When not immersed in the World of Whimsy, itself, Marc enjoys and is devoted to his charming wife of many years. Together they have fun exploring the world and seeing their five grandchildren discover, learn and earn the joys of life.To learn more about Marc Frederic, Mr. Whimsy and the World of Whimsy you're welcome to visit www.worldofwhimsy.com. Bright's dream of illustrating Children's books began with the tiny, thumb-nail sized books she created as a child. Her mother, volleyball Olympian, Patti Bright, encouraged Bright to draw and paint on her bedroom walls.Bright studied fine arts at UC Santa Barbara, while on a volleyball scholarship, and studied Illustration at Cal State University, Long Beach. Her career of animating and illustrating for educational computer games soon followed. In 1999, as a mother-to-be, Bright was put in touch with Cookie Bear Press and given the opportunity to illustrate her first published book, ""I Love You All The Time"". That book has since sold more than 100,000 copies.Since that time, Bright has written and illustrated many children's books and has created several animated book apps. She is especially proud of ""The Tangle Tower,"" which spent many weeks on Amazon/Kindle's Top 20 Seller's List for Children's Picture Books. More titles from Bonnie Bright Include: ""Casey's Compost"", ""Peli Can Surf"", ""Joe's New Windrows"", ""The Best Kind of Pirate, A Christmas Tale"", ""My Little Sleepyhead, A Good Morning Book"", ""Bunny's First Vacation"", ""The Sad House On Moving Day"" and ""Cellphoneitus"".
