He has held various visiting professorships in Europe and the US, including Cornell Law School and College d'Europe (Brugge). He is an associate of the International Academy of Comparative Law. Professor Oda is a qualified attorney (Japan) and solicitor (England and Wales). His practice area covers foreign investment law and arbitration. He was the Japanese representative to the ICC Court of Arbitration (2004-2016) and is currently a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).
