OverviewThe 2nd South African Infantry Division's exploits during the Second World War have long been neglected by military historians. As the division responsible for the defence of Tobruk in June 1942, its subsequent defeat by Erwin Rommel along with the capture of 10 722 members of the division remains South Africa's greatest military defeat. He has over 30 years of military experience within the South African National Defence Force, including both internal and external military deployments. He holds an undergraduate degree in Ancient History (UNISA), a Honours Degree in Ancient History (UNISA) and a Master's Degree in Contemporary History (UFS).
