A little motivational and positive thinking novelette. Synopsis According to an ancient Celtic legend it is said that on the night of Samhain (The Celtic New Year's Eve), a night that is outside the cycle of time because it belongs neither to the Old Year that has just ended nor the New Year that has not yet begun, it may be possible to discern, in the mists that separate the world of the living from that of the spirits, a man who wanders in search of the road to Paradise. He holds his lantern in a hollowed out pumpkin, and inside it there would be a burning firebrand from the embers of hell. That man is Jack! Jack O' Lantern. But who was Jack? The only ordinary man who has a feast day dedicated to him that by now is celebrated the world over! Why do we celebrate him on Halloween night? Hardly anyone knows his story; To hell with them! Jack would say. , exclamaria Jack.

Reviews

This is a delightful story told side by side in English and Spanish. It traces the story of the legends of who Jack O'Lantern was and how he became our carved pumpkins of today's Halloween celebrations. I had fun looking for the Spanish word for some of the English ones and I'm sure if you are studying Spanish this would be a great source for your studies. A book on the origins and legends of Jack O'Lantern I can highly recommend it. Kristi R. Starting from the Celtic legend of Jack O' Lantern the author wrote an educational story teaching a valuable lesson about human being and society. In this story everybody have something to teach, even the devil is represented as a person who keeps his promises and has positive values which abides. A worth reading tale for young people and adults. Alex This was an interesting story about a mans journey, his dealings with the devil and how he came to be known as Jack o lantern. I enjoyed the old folk lore feel and interesting composition. I liked it. Amazon Customer The Stingy Jack of the Celtic lore becomes a modern hero. This tale remember me 'A Christmas Carol'. A wonderful story to discover a different and positive way to celebrate a 'dark' feast. I really enjoyed this book. Jeremy Fantastic Halloween story. What a pleasant surprise, a story about Halloween and how it all started. So far I'm on page 50 and when I finish I will read it with my son, he is Halloween crazy. Benjamin Jenkins A bilingual motivational story with positive values to learn and to teach for everybody; the perfect choice for enhancing languages knowledge. The two languages are set side by side on the pages. John T.
