Overview

We begin a journey through history in 1949, when Ethan Drude, a decommissioned army veteran of WW2, returns home to Whitechapel, London, to care for his dying grandfather, Tobias Drude. An original breed of investigative Journalist, working for the London Times Newspaper, Tobias, on his death bed, entrusts his grandson, Ethan, with his secret life's work, a concealed journal, hidden for decades. Ethan becomes absorbed by his grandfather's detailed narrative, where the echoes of Market Traders and Tavern revellers, of Victorian London, ring in his ears, his senses transporting him back to Whitechapel, London, 1888, to a time when the infamous Ripper murderer stalked the Labyrinths of hidden passageways, terrorising the innocent and where unscrupulous criminals, and anti-government Irish Fenian activists, flourished.
