Jack feels lost and out of place, but one morning, he falls asleep at his desk and wakes up in a mysterious classroom in a sensory friendly school where clothes are comfortable, chairs are cushioned, and teachers are chilled and happy. For the first time in his life he feels accepted and understood, safe and happy in school. Can this be real life? The story is followed by part two, which contains many supportive and real-life stories, including that of the real 'Jack'. The author highlights how parents supporting children like hers can maintain their mental health and wellbeing. Lastly, there is some advice for making school more sensory friendly from an Occupational Therapist, Alison Harrod of Bursting with Potential.
