OverviewThis is a reprint of Robert Manery's first book, It's Not As If It Hasn't Been Said Before. The nine poems in this book explore the language and politics of the Winnipeg General Strike of 1919. Through the use of a combination of aleatoric and intentional procedures that generate texts from primary source materials related to the strike, including newspaper articles, pamphlets, trial transcripts and the Criminal Code of Canada, the nine poems in this book question the relationship between the anarchist politics of the strike leaders and the intentionality of the behaviours and actions that occur in mob or crowd situations while simultaneously exploring language and nonintentionality.
