It's Hard to Sit Still: Hyperactive children are around us

Overview

Fenek loves arts and crafts, so he is very pleased that he will participate in workshops with a friend. Initially, not everything goes his way. Is the new girl he met naughty or hyperactive? And what does that even mean? This is a book about building relationships with people with hyperactivity. Thanks to this little book, a child will: understand that hyperactivity is not the same as naughty behaviour; realise that each of us has different needs; learn ways to cope with their own or someone else's hyperactivity. In addition to age-appropriate content and beautiful, colourful illustrations, the booklet also includes additional features: questions to check understanding of the content, ideas for interesting ways to spend time with a child after reading the booklet, statements from experts: doctors, educators, psychologists, and many others. Our fairy tales are the perfect way to spend time with a child in a pleasant but effective manner. It's not just a bedtime story, but much more.

Reviews

A tale that made it hard for me to sit still because I already feel the urge to run to my kids to tell it to them;) I read the content of the booklet with interest. Fenek once again shows his Little and Big Fans how to perceive a difficult situation arising from someone's behaviour and how to deal with it. Katarzyna Bartosiewicz - psychologist, career advisor, oligophrenopedagogue The story presented shows in an excellent way how to use a child's potential so that they feel appreciated and do not lose their sense of self-worth, despite their hyperactivity. An excellent tip for both parents and teachers to avoid labelling a child as a troublemaker, and instead allow them to spread their wings. Joanna Drewczyńska - Biology teacher, oligophrenopedagogue Another book that gives a lot to think about. It all depends on us, both adults and children, whether we perceive something as a flaw or an asset. In every situation, a good solution can be found thanks to wise and sensible division of tasks. Anna Ferenc - speech therapist, works with children with speech defects, genetic syndromes, autism spectrum, selective mutism The problem of motor hyperactivity among children is common. We are increasingly encountering this type of disorder. This fairy tale allows children to become aware of the problem of hyperactivity and how to behave towards children with such problems. Fenek's adventures familiarise children with various ""foreign"" behaviours to them. The read fairy tale elicited empathy and understanding for peers in the group who have similar problems to the squirrel Felicia. During the classes, one could hear the comment, ""Be like Fenek, understand him"". In such situations, one can see how strongly children identify with Fenek and his behaviours in given situations. Anna Trawka - preschool education teacher including those with autism spectrum Here I really like the approach of Mr. Anteater - that is the proposal for the hyperactive little squirrel to become an assistant and deliver the missing materials to the other children for their art projects. Unfortunately, not all teachers are able to similarly transform a child's ""weakness"" into their ""superpower"", to see and utilise the potential of their students... Karolina Szwabowicz-Mosica - Adoptive mother of an energetic eight-year-old.
