Overview

Wipe the viscera from your eyes and prepare to assimilate into the flesh in this queer adult debut graphic novella exploring crunch culture and its casualties. LA, 2028. Down-on-their-luck exterminator Sal Hernandez is sick of long hours, living in their work van, and ready to reconcile with their estranged partner. The only thing standing in their way is one last shift. What seems like a routine job is anything but, and when a proselytizing mass of flesh abducts Sal's newest coworker, Luke, an extermination job quickly turns into a rescue mission. Freshly concussed from a pro-bono job earlier in the morning, for Sal, the line between reality and hallucination begins to blur. Sal and their teammates Molly and Hussam are as experienced as they come, but will it be enough to overcome the horrific creature that waits in the shadows and the incompetence of their boss?

Mark Bouchard is the writer/co-creator of It Took Luke and the editor/creator of Everything is Going Wrong: Comics On Punk & Mental Illness. Previously, they wrote satire for The Hard Times/Hard Drive. Mark lives in Chicago, right next to the train, with their dog, Juicebox.  Bayleigh Underwood is a comic artist and illustrator based in North Carolina who specializes in monsters, swords, and action scenes. They have illustrated multiple short comics, including Reflection,  Marvel Action: Chillers, and The Last Champion. Outside of comics, they do their best to take care of their three rowdy cats and go on hikes with their partner.
