Overview"Forty short, easy-reading memoirs record events that occurred when the author and his family lived and worked in the Middle East. This was before the days of mobile phones and all forms of communication made possible by the advent of the internet. The stories cover family matters such as travel, language learning, cultural issues, home life, illness and accident. The work stories are about teaching Science and English at secondary level, followed by the production and distribution of Christian films and teaching material in Arabic on video. The events all took place in peaceful Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Cyprus, and also in civil war torn Lebanon when both ""peacekeeping"" Syrian and ""occupation"" Israeli armies were also deployed in different parts of the land. The majority of the stories tell of incidents that could be construed to have a supernatural, or God directed, element in them. The reader is left to decide which of the stories recount supernatural incidents or if the events described were just welcome and timely coincidents."
