Reviews

Vicky Foster’s It Happened Like This weaves together testimony, lyricism, media reports and letters into a raw, powerful narrative, told through the unique perspective of the author and her own traumatic experiences. The book explores violence, misogyny, love and loss in formally inventive ways and offers the reader a blistering perspective on what it means to be a woman today, as well as what it might mean to be a hero, villain, victim and survivor. This is a searing, moving book which will make you think twice about what you hear or see on the news -- Rachel Bower, author of IT COMES FROM THE RIVER A haunting and compelling re-writing of a story, placing emphasis on the power of carrying on and refusing to be silenced ... Should be required reading -- Helen Mort
