Reviews

In this updated and expanded version of his account of the Arab-Israeli Conflict, Dr Ahron Bregman offers readers an informative and digestible introduction into the origins of some of the wars that have beguiled and shaped the region and pitted Israel, the Palestinians and the Arab states into armed conflict. Dr Bregman offers new insights into some of the more recent conflicts between Israel and Hezbollah and Israel's operations against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Israel's Wars remains essential reading for students of the Middle East and conflict studies as well as anyone interested in Arab and Israeli history. Simon Waldman, King's College London, UK Israel's Wars provides an in-depth analysis of each war and stage of the conflict in approachable language and with good depth of discussion. In this way, it is easily accessible to the knowledgeable as well as non-knowledgeable reader... it is an important text for those who want to gain an overall understanding of the violent outbursts of the conflict, their main causes, stages and outcomes. Elian Weizman, Brunel University, UK
