Overview

This is a tale of a dysfunctional crime family and their brothel in the South Caribbean. There are abductions, murders, pirates, sociopaths, general wickedness, and of course sex. Crime is the family business. - - - My brother John is trolling off the American Gulf Coast, not for fish, but for boats in trouble. He and I are not a lot alike. I'm a calculating businesswoman, he is an unkempt varmint with a swagger, a drunk who fancies himself a pirate, his crew the same, pleasures more important than profits. His small cargo ship is more of a large metal boat, but it is seaworthy. The name is faded and unreadable, it often sails without a ship's flag. We refer to it as the pirate boat. - - - The Dutch Antilles consists of the three ABC islands, Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. Their destination is the latter, where the brothel is located. Captain John had promised his sister Bart twenty-four young women by the first of the month. - - - Considering both of Jude's daughters are destined to be enslaved by my family for their lifetimes, should I feel bad for Jude? Move them into a rental truck. Unload the best ones onto this old boat, string them up in the cargo hold. Let them wake up in pitch black darkness wondering where the hell they are and what the fuck happened. Alternatively, we seek out derelict boats, ones in trouble, ram them, pick up the survivors. - - - ""Neptune requires a sacrifice. One of you will get a major gash and pushed overboard. Blood attracts sharks from quite a distance. Who wants to remain onboard and commit to unquestioning obedience?"" They each raise a hand. - - - Select the weapon of your choice and prepare to die."" ""Sounds like fun to me, foolish woman. Let's see, I have two swords, a few pistols, whips, knives, and there's always mano a mano. I choose swords, it's the pirate way. Here."" He tosses one to her. She nimbly catches it. They begin to duel. They clash steel blade against steel blade, going back and forth in the process. It seems endless. - - - The men return a moment later with all the young women in tow and reboard the chopper. ""I'm naked,"" announces the entitled Congresswoman. ""Me too,"" adds the bride. ""They raped us."" ""We know, girls,"" says President Carver. ""Nothing wrong with nudity. It's considered an art form. Submarine Captain, do you copy?"" ""Affirmative, Mr. President."" ""That rogue cargo boat is back. It's transporting a terrorist sleeper cell. Fire an armed torpedo. Blow that motherfucker out of the water! Get a video of it for the evening news."" ""Yes, sir!"" ""No! My husband is on board!"" shouts the bride. ""My brother too!"" adds Chloe. Suddenly a bright flash lights up the evening sky. ""Not anymore,"" responds Carver with a chortle. -
