In his office overlooking the International city of San Francisco as well as the Golden Gate Bridge, Dr. Kent Philpott is well located to form an understanding of the religion of Mohammad. Not far from his church stands a new mosque where the well known American Taliban young man was converted and grew to be become a radical. Philpott has developed a good understanding of Islam. Several decades ago few in the Western world were interested in details about Islam, but that has changed with the constant news reports coming out of both the Middle East and Europe. What is this religion and how are we to understand it? The author does not attempt to write a complete theology of Islam, but rather has chosen to take may important ideas and positions that define Islam.
