Nué was only six, maybe 7 when her story truly began. Her parents, humble laborers, were always busy. Her mother dried herbs for trade; her father hauled timber through the dusk. They loved her in their own quiet way, but the world left little time for warmth. So Nué wandered often, silent and unseen, through the shadowed edges of the forest near their home. One summer day, she found a small acorn nestled in the grass. It pulsed faintly with a warmth she couldn't explain. She named it Geb. From that moment on, it never left her side. She spoke to it in whispers, tucked it beneath her pillow, and imagined it danced when she laughed. Until one evening, it did.
