OverviewProject management is a supervisory function that is performed throughout the entire project life cycle. Unlike other project tasks, however, these processes are not standardised. The supervision of all projects in a multi-project environment should have the same objective. This work is often carried out by different people from line organisations who are not necessarily involved in the topic. The processes for this supervision are constantly being redeveloped and mature with their use. This paper examines the question of whether steps towards process management would be useful in this area. Through the analysis of problem-centred interviews conducted with managers in project offices and through literature analysis, the status quo in some Austrian companies in the ICT industry and some new trends in the literature from international publications are surveyed. The thesis also takes a look at new technologies and social trends in the world of work. The result of this thesis is an answer to the question of whether standardisation in this area is useful.
