Author Information

Hermione Hobhouse is an urban historian specialising in Victorian London, and a former Secretary of the Victorian Society. She curated the exhibition 'Albert: His Life and Work' at the Royal College of Art in 1983. Her biography 'Thomas Cubitt: Master Builder' was reprinted in 1995 and her study of the 1851 Great Exhibition was published in 2002. For ten years she was the general editor of the Survey of London series.
