Overview

The 10th Cavalry Brigade was the only fully operational Polish motorised military unit during the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939. Commanded by Colonel (later General) Stanislaw Maczek, it is considered to be the only Polish World War II military unit not to have lost a single battle. The Germans so respected them, they dubbed them The Black BrigadeA"" because of the black jackets worn by Polish mechanised troops This book tells the story of the unit from its inception in February 1937 to the end of the Polish campaign in September 1939, when the 10th Cavalry Brigade left Poland with all its armoured vehicles intact. Many of the men managed to get to France and then to Great Britain, where they became the core of the Polish 1st Armoured Division.
