Gedney is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY, where he has been since 1991. He was named the Reese Terry Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Kentucky in 2002. He received the B.Eng.-Honors degree from McGill University, Montreal, Q.C., in 1985, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois,Urbana-Champaign, IL, in 1987 and 1991, respectively. He has been a NASA/ASEE Faculty Fellow with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, CA. He has also served as a visiting research engineer with the Hughes Research Labs (now HRL laboratories) in Malibu, CA, and Alpha Omega Electromagnetics, Ellicott City,MD. He is also the recipient of the Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Teacher Award. He is a Fellow of the IEEE. Prof. Gedney’s research is in the area of computational electromagnetics with focus on the finite-difference time-domain, discontinuous Galerkin time-domain methods, high-order solution algorithms, fast solver technology, and parallel algorithms. His research has focused on applications in the areas of electromagnetic scattering and microwave circuit modeling and design. He has published over 150 articles in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings and has contributed to a number of books in the field of computational electromagnetics.
