OverviewThis text looks at the Eastern way of thinking. How did philosophy arise? What is the origin of order in the universe? What is human nature? What is truth? These questions are answered from the viewpoint of Indian, Chinese and Islamic traditions. Essays look at how Eastern thought has dealt with Western contact in the 19th and 20th centuries. Ancient and modern writings are placed in their cultural context to give access to specific arguments.
