Introduction to Cinematic Storytelling: From Hollywood Illusion to Avant-Garde Challengers

Overview

This text covers the process by which the Hollywood ""hypnosis"" machine works and those who challenge that model. The first half of the anthology dives into the topics of the script, production design, cinematography, editing, sound design, and directing, and how they cohesively create a singular vision. The second half covers a key selection of avant-garde filmmakers and international cinema—those who challenge the Hollywood model to get their unique voices heard.
