Alex JR Quintanilla tiene un doctorado en Lingüística Hispánica de la Universidad de Florida (EE. UU.). Estudió lexicografía en la Escuela de Lexicografía Hispánica de la Real Academia Española. Fue jefe del Departamento de Lenguas Modernas, Literaturas y Culturas en Butler University en Indianápolis, EE. UU. (2016-2020), donde actualmente funge como Profesor Asociado de lengua española.
