Overview

The practice guide introduces or reintroduces parts of speech that students often learn in school. Students practice identification and discern what the roles of words are and how they are used in sentences. The guide begins with some of the more elementary parts of speech and advances to lesser known or studied parts of speech as the student progresses through the guide. The practice guide also includes grammar concepts. Punctuation and rules of written expression are introduced or reintroduced to students so they can practice, eliminate uncertainty and build confidence in their grammar usage and overall written expression.

Author Information

After initially finding a passion to help students, I returned home to tutor children. With communication as my specialty, I initially had no idea that I would eventually incorporate all of language arts into my lesson track and curriculum, but that is exactly what has happened. I started working with a couple students. As word spread, it has blossomed into many. Ten years since I started, I find myself still learning probably just as much as my students and I still refer to myself as a student of language arts even as an instructor. I have frequently produced my own practice and review materials because I either did not have or could not find review content that I liked or that I wanted to give my students. I have lesson planned for years so I am now thrilled at the idea of producing content that explains and provides practice opportunities for the concepts we study in session into a workbook hardcopy.
