Interior design has the ability to positively touch and improve the lives of every man, woman and child on this planet and in some cases the lives of the animals with whom we also share our lives. This is one of the few professions on earth that has the amazing capacity to, not only embody, redirect, improve our mental and physical well-being but also to transform our everyday standard of living for the better. I also believe that a well-designed interior can potentially save our lives by providing shelter, a place of safety, security, sanctuary and give us hope for the future. Yes, I truly am passionate about the creation of amazing interior spaces. The years have taught me the true value of the expression of such a wonderful gift. So I chose to write this series of books to share my passion with you also and hopefully enlighten you to your hidden potential, as I guide you through this design creation process. So I decided to write this series of books from the view point of 'what I wished I had known at each stage of my design journey'. You see I do not believe that it is necessary to show you multiple before and after photos, because I know that we all understand what the before picture looks like. It is the before pictures in our lives that drive us to pursue the after picture, you are reading this book in the knowledge that you already know that you are living with the before picture and now you are ready to create the after picture. This book series will only show you the after pictures so that you can begin to flood your minds with all the positive images of what can be achieved in virtually any interior or exterior space. So with that objective in mind, I aim to guide and mentor you through these series of books - so that at each stage you too can grow in your passion, ability, knowledge and self-belief in what you can and will achieve through this wonderful profession called 'Interior Design'. Who will benefit from this book series? - in short 'everyone'.... from the student who wishes to have greater clarity and direction on their interior design course, the freelance interior designer/stylist who wishes to grow their business in a new direction, or the DIY enthusiast who wants to inject a feel of professional polish into their next project. Property developers who wish to ensure that the properties they offer to their new residents are a home rather than just temporary accommodation, the brave novice who just enjoys creating wonderful interior spaces just for fun, to the everyday slightly nervous person who simply wishes to live in a beautiful home that reflects their own unique personal style. I became an Interior Designer in 1984, but my love affair with interior design began many years before that. Through the decade's interior design has given me the privilege of being part of one of the noblest professions that the world has now come to appreciate and embrace.
