She completed a fellowship in Uveitis and Ocular Immunology at the Casey Eye Institute--Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. Her research interests include epidemiology and risk factors for inflammatory eye diseases, clinical trials of uveitis therapeutics, biomarkers for uveitis outcomes, and clinical management of the ocular inflammatory disease. She is also the co-host of the podcast Headlight in the Fog: The Uveitis Podcast. Dr. Joanne Valeriano-Marcet is a Professor of Medicine and Fellowship Program Director at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. She completed her fellowship in rheumatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Her awards have included the Parker J. Palmer “Courage to Teach” Award for Program Director Excellence from the ACGME, the Outstanding GME Program Director Award from USF, and she has been named among the Best Doctors in America.
