OverviewMulticulturalism in the care sector is no longer a rarity. However, it is essential that people from different cultures, with different skills and experiences, are able to interact effectively across cultural boundaries, so that coexistence can evolve into collaboration. A high degree of diversity within the team is important not only in the day-to-day work of care professionals, but also in order to respond to the individual needs of care recipients. The foundation for intercultural competence and the associated skills required in future professional practice lies primarily in training. Classes deliberately selected to be culturally heterogeneous provided the impetus to investigate how interculturality is actually experienced. This gave rise, as part of a study, to qualitative practice-based research that utilised the methods of semi-structured guided interviews with trainees and an expert questionnaire.
