OverviewAlthough many researchers believe that intelligent systems (IS) can improve building performance, the potential of such systems has not yet been fully recognized with regards to the traditional courtyard house (TCHT). Such research is important given the role of adding IS to TCHTs; due to the nature of intelligent systems and the priority of their needs and building considerations. As such, one must consider many interrelated aspects that can enhance courtyard house performance in order to fulfil occupants' needs. This book identifies the key features of the traditional courtyard house, and shows that a detailed knowledge of the features and capabilities of intelligent systems is an important aspect in the decision-making process in order to enhance the performance of courtyard houses.
