Author Information

Carla Pinto is a Coordinating Professor in the School of Engineering, Polytechnic of Porto, Portugal. She has a PhD degree in the scientific area of Mathematics, since January 2004. Her main research topic is epidemiology, in particular Mathematical Epidemiology. She is interested in mathematical challenges and their role in providing advice on public health policies. Dr. Pinto is trained in Nonlinear Dynamics, Bifurcation Theory. Previous research included the analysis of Central Pattern Generators for Animal and Robot Locomotion, coupled cell networks, neuron-like equations (Hodgkin-Huxley equations, Fitz-Hugh Nagumo, Morris-Lecar). Daniela Mascarenhas is an assistant teacher at the Porto School of Education linked to the training of early childhood educators and teachers from the 1st and 2nd Basic Education Cycle. She has published several articles and she is a researcher in several projects, allocated to the CeiED and INED research centers. Participating as a trainer in several ongoing training actions for teachers and educators in Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe. Post-Doctorate in Educational Sciences, in the specialty of Pedagogical Supervision, by the University of Minho (2019). PhD in Education and Didactics of Mathematics by the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Granada (2011). She obtained the Diploma of Advanced Studies in Education and Didactics of Mathematics by the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Granada (2010). Graduated in Mathematics from the University of Minho (2003).
