Author Information

Xiaojie Lin is Associate Professor at the College of Energy Engineering, Zhejiang University. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Energy and Environmental Systems Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2012 and obtained a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, USA, in 2017. During his PhD study, he worked under renowned experts in refrigeration and HVAC fields, researching dynamic simulation modeling and demand response optimization control of variable refrigerant flow systems and phase change materials. After obtaining his PhD, he worked at Mitsubishi Electric R&D Center on dynamic simulation and design of energy systems for zero energy buildings in Japan. In 2018, Dr. Lin joined Zhejiang University as a postdoctoral researcher, focusing on theoretical research on multi-complementary smart heating technologies, and received funding from the ""International Postdoc Exchange Program"" of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. His current research directions are integrated energy system modeling, control theory, and smart heating technologies. Jian Song is Assistant Professor at the Birmingham Centre for Energy Storage and School of Chemical Engineering, University of Birmingham, UK; Honorary Research Fellow at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College London; and Managing Editor of Applied Thermal Engineering. He has been acting as the Deputy Group Leader of Clean Energy Processes Laboratory at Imperial College London prior to joining Birmingham in May 2023. He received his PhD Degree from Tsinghua University in 2018 and was awarded the Zijing Scholar Fellowship, Outstanding PhD Thesis by Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines, and Wu Zhonghua Outstanding Postgraduate Award. Dr. Jian Song visited the Whittle Laboratory at the University of Cambridge in 2016 and participated in an internship at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 2015. His research focuses on clean and sustainable energy technologies, which covers thermal fluids, processes, devices, and systems, with an emphasis on multi-scale integrated design and optimization of energy conversion and storage options, aiming at enhancing energy utilization efficiency across conventional and renewable resources, and contributing to energy harvesting and sustainability. Wei Zhong is Professor at the College of Energy Engineering, Zhejiang University. He is Deputy Director of the Institute of Thermal Science and Power Systems, Energy Engineering College and Deputy Director of Power Engineering Center, Polytechnic Institute, Zhejiang University. His current research interests include smart energy system, complex thermal hydraulic system modeling and simulation, thermal system engineering, cyber-physical system, model predictive control, artificial intelligence, industrial big data, and other thermal energy engineering/information technologies. He is also interested in optimization and control of heating system in future smart cities, district integrated energy system regulation, circular economy and industrial ecology, power plant (industrial boiler) performance design and simulation, and smart power plant engineering application technology research. He has published more than 30 papers on SCI and EI and has won more than 10 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards. So far, he has undertaken more than 100 major projects, including the National Key R&D Project, the Provincial Natural Science Funding Project, and other enterprise cooperate projects.
