Reviews

""Instructional Strategies for Christian Teachers stands as one of the most comprehensive and substantive contributions to the field of Christian pedagogy in recent years. It offers a thorough exploration of the teaching-learning process, thoughtfully integrating educational philosophy, psychological principles, and instructional theory with a sound biblical framework. Each chapter reflects a high level of scholarly engagement, incorporating current research and best practices that move well beyond introductory treatments. The volume thoughtfully addresses significant and often-overlooked topics related to teaching and learning, and also emphasizes the formative role of the teacher and the importance of the educator's character and calling. Each chapter reflects scholarly depth and practical insight, enriched by a collaborative team of faculty writing from their individual areas of expertise. This is an invaluable resource for Christian higher education committed to developing effective, theologically grounded educators and ministry leaders.""--Karen E. Jones ""Professor and Chair, Institute for Christian Thought and Practice, Huntington University"" (8/15/2025 12:00:00 AM) ""Jesus commanded his disciples to teach others everything he had taught them. But how? How do we faithfully and effectively teach the Scriptures for transformation? While many books focus on educational theory and others focus on educational methods, this compelling text uniquely offers a comprehensive approach to strategic biblical teaching that grounds practice in sound philosophy and theology. Fair warning! Engaging in this comprehensive approach to Christian education may lead to a complete demolition and renovation of your teaching ministry, requiring an altered perspective that necessitates a change in strategy. Significant change is never easy, but faithful Christian educators will embrace this challenge to carefully reexamine their approach to teaching and learning in ministry.""--Mark Cannister ""Professor of Christian MinistriesGordon College"" (8/15/2025 12:00:00 AM) ""My friends Jay Sedwick and James Estep Jr., along with several other of my Dallas Seminary colleagues, have teamed up to write Instructional Strategies for Christian Teachers, a foundational resource chock-full of not only biblical and theological principles for teaching the truth of the Bible in every ministry context, but also practical strategies for applying educational theory to the lives of God's people everywhere. This volume will be an essential textbook for Bible colleges and seminaries and missional settings tasked with training Christian teachers to deliver life-changing content with effectiveness and excellence.""--Mark M. Yarbrough ""President, Dallas Theological Seminary"" (8/15/2025 12:00:00 AM)
