About the Author of 'Inspiring Darkness' Preet K Sandhu is a British Asian. She grew up in the fertile plains of the Punjab. She was born into a middle class family. Her parents brought her up with traditional values and a sheltered environment. However, unlike a traditional Indian family, she had the rare distinction of obtaining a master's degree before she married. In her culture, sweets are distributed to friends and relatives only on the birth of a male baby. Much against their will and tradition, her parents had to distribute sweets on her birth as she was born alongside her twin brother. Thus from her very beginnings she thumbed her nose at her elders with their restrictive practices. No one had taught her how to write this book until her own life story turned it into a challenge that she couldn't ignore. The motivation behind 'Inspiring Darkness' is similar to the motto of the British Library, the well-stocked world class temple of learning: 'Nothing in Life is to be feared, it's only to be understood'.
