A practical guide from both a personal and business perspective. Inside the Insurance Industry - Fourth Edition is a relatively short and extremely helpful overview of the insurance industry, from both a personal perspective and a business perspective. As somebody that is generally new to the world of insurance on both personal and business fronts, I found this text to be a helpful introduction that got me started on thinking about not only the mechanisms of the industry, but also the importance of insurance and the role it plays in a functioning economy and in providing security for the individual. Risks are pervasive in our daily lives, deriving from all sorts of sources and directions. Glaser is a clear subject matter expert and is well versed and equipped to guide someone through safeguarding against these risks. Insurance is typically one of those things that people hope to never have to deal with, and so long as they don't, people tend to know very little about it. However, a good time to start to a least begin to understand the workings of insurance is well before an incident happens in which you'd need to make a claim. This book is the exact place to start to build that foundation and to get your compass before you enter the woods, so to speak. I found this text to be readable, easy to work through and full of relatable examples to help explain insurance concepts, and extremely detailed and thorough, without being overly long or boring. Use this text as a guide when seeking out insurance for the first time to help you get the appropriate coverage and best premiums, and use this text as a guide again in the event that you need to make a claim and want to understand the process, the people involved, and your options, should you not get the desired result from your claim.
