OverviewThis textbook is intended to give an understanding of the basic principles that constitute the field of non-conventional polymers containing inorganic and organometalic units as the repeating units. Each chapter will be self-explanatory with a good background so that it can be easily understood at the senior undergraduate level. The principles involved in the preparation of these polymers, their characterisation and their applications will be discussed. Basic inorganic chemistry required for the understanding of each topic is presented so that the content of the chapter is readily understood. All the major inorganic and organometallic polymers such as polyphosphazenes, polysilanes, polysiloxanes, poly-thiazyl, poly-ferrocenes and other polymers containing main group elements will be dealt with.
Journal: Angewandte Chemie, Vol. 118, Issue 10, pp. 1532-1533
Inorganic and Organometallic Polymers is an advanced textbook targeting advanced undergraduate and postgraduate students, and presumably also full-grown chemists from the fields of macromolecular and inorganic chemistry. The size of the well-written book is suitable for a one semester lecture/course on the topic. a ] The book is exquisitely produced. a ] The book is a clear must-have for all libraries featuring academic chemistry literature. (Thomas Lazar, Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics, Vol. 207 (10), 2006)
This volume is the result of information collected and used by Chandrasekhar (Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur) as course material for numerous undergraduate and graduate students; that probably accounts for the exceptional clarity of the writing, which effectively communicates technical content while retaining reader interest. a ] Summing Up: Highly recommended. Upper-division undergraduates through professionals; two-year technical program students. (P. G. Heiden, CHOICE, March 2006)
This book by Vadapalli Chandrasekhar provides a very usefuland timely survey of the broad area with ample discussion of the recent developments from the last decade. a ] I can certainly recommend this book to any practitioner in the field, and also to students and industrial scientists a ] . clearly demonstrates an excellent knowledge of the field and the recent literature. The work is very well-written and is generally error-free with clear and carefully created structures and, in my view, represents a very valuable contribution.
