Overview

Information has become a building block of today s information society. The production, dissemination and availability of accurate, timely, relevant, clear, concise and consistent information have become key in order to make sustainable decisions and the right choices in an increasingly complex world. However, information does not necessarily have an intrinsic positive value; neither is it always an end in itself. To the contrary, information can have a negative value or may cause unwanted, even harmful effects. This volume addresses the promise and concerns associated with information quality from an information law perspective. The essays in this book seek to outline different strategies and mechanisms that aim to foster information quality and discuss legal approaches to information quality governance against several theoretical backdrops. The contributors seek to analyze key problems of informational quality regulation and to assess potential solutions to such problems.
