Sanjay Patel, University Hospital Southampton 'This is an excellent book covering a wide variety of infectious diseases. The first four chapters are very helpful in understanding pathogen biology and the role of the microbiology laboratory in infectious diseases. These will be an excellent quick read for trainees going into infectious disease specialization training. Although many of the questions are not written in the style of US boards, much of the information has some relevance to the ABIM infectious disease exam.'
