Previously, he was Head of Research Studies of the Spanish Fiscal Studies Institute (2008-10). His fields of research are inequality, equality of opportunity, economic growth and social welfare. He has published in reviews like Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Economic Development, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Economic Inequality, Social Choice and Welfare, Review of Income and Welfare and Economic Letters. Current research interests include measurement of opportunity, inequality-of-opportunity effects on economic growth, and mobility. John A. Bishop is a Professor of Economics at East Carolina University, USA. He has published more than seventy-five papers on the topics of inequality and poverty. His best known work includes statistical inference for inequality and poverty measures, benefit incidence analysis, tax progressivity analysis, and the inequality effects of alternative public policies. Current research interests include subjective equivalence scales, regional price effects on inequality and poverty, and discrimination. Recent papers appear in the Review of Income and Wealth, Journal of Economic Inequality, and the B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis and Policy.
