OverviewThis valuable study guide is a comprehensive index to the fifteen books comprising The Collected Works of Eugene Halliday. Born in 1911, he was an artist, writer and psychotherapist who drew on many traditions of human knowledge and experience: the texts of world religions; mystical schools such as Qabalah; poetry, philosophy and theology (Blake, Milton, Nietzsche, Boehme); psychology (Jung) and modern science (Einstein). He formulated a psychotherapeutic method from which many were to benefit in the years following the second world war, and which is still of relevance and benefit to us today. His books form a comprehensive guide to self-development, both psychological and spiritual; and an interpretation of the wisdom tradition, East and West, for modern students of consciousness studies, philosophy, psychology, science, religion and hermeneutics. First, because here was a teacher and visionary who had seen deeply into the nature of reality to recognize that consciousness goes all the way down - that all of nature, indeed the entire cosmos- tingles with the spark of spirit (my phrases, but equally his insights). Second, he is one of the few teachers of consciousness who not only recognized that consciousness is always embodied, but also that we should not confuse consciousness with energy (its embodiment). Reading his books, particularly, Reflexive Self-Consciousness, I felt as though I was having a conversation with a fellow spirit, a clear thinker who saw beyond boundaries of academic philosophy, and was committed to contributing a transformative philosophy of life that honors both head and heart. I urge my students (and others) to read his books. If you haven't done so already-treat yourself! ' Christian de Quincey, professor of Philosophy and Consciousness Studies at John F. Kennedy University Author InformationEugene Halliday (1911-1987), artist, writer and psychotherapist, was founder of two educational charities. A prolific writer and inspirational teacher, his published works include 'Reflexive Self-Consciousness', 'The Tacit Conspiracy', and 'Contributions from a Potential Corpse'. His psychotherapeutic work enabled the recovery of many troubled minds and souls, yet he almost never gave advice, but taught people how to advise themselves. His work was founded in Love, which he defined as 'working for the development of the highest potentialities of being'. Those who were taught by him regard him in affectionate reverence as a man of great wisdom, humour and compassion. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
