OverviewThe weaving industry in the Philippines has long been an integral part of the culture and traditions of its people. It is more than an art form; weaving and the textiles produced represent the beauty, talent, hard work, and determination of the Filipino people. This study aims to examine and explain the development of Inabel weaving as both an art and a practice, with the goal of supporting its preservation and revitalization. It also explores how the Ilocano weaving industry has contributed to the development of the province of Ilocos Sur. Furthermore, the study discusses the history, challenges, and responses of the weaving industry in Ilocos Sur, as well as the support provided by the local government for its preservation and promotion.
