In Search of The Subtle: Meditation, Mantra - Mandala, Yantra, Kashmir Shaivism, Kundalini, Yoga and Hindu Guru

Overview

1. This book contains travel to India in the early 1970's and going into a Hindu ashram (monastery). While in that ashram I tapped into the spiritual teaching of my guru, his guru and this wisdom of the 5 holy men of Kashmir Shaivism that my guru wrote about. This book, in my opinion, is a powder keg of prajna (spiritual knowledge). 2. I write about my guru. My guru was a Shivite but he was also passionate about Brahman. But most of all he worshipped his guru, Bhagawan. 3. My guru, Baba, taught us about Astonga Yoga, the 8 limbed path of Patanjali including the 4 bodies of the individual soul. My guru taught and wrote about Brahman and Vedanta and so I wrote about that as well. The title, In Search of The Subtle refers to a search for God, the Absolute. 4. I write in the book about my guru's effort to revive Kashmir Shaivism a Hindu religion/philosophy practiced in secrecy for 800 years. Kashmir Shaivism teaches that creation is a manifestation, not a creation. 5. I write a lot about my Kashmir Shaivism, a nondual, Hindu religion whose deity is Lord Shiva but not the Shiva that we're all familiar with. I write about how Lord Shiva was modified by the Tantra sages of India. 6. In the book I write about the 5 most important holy men in Kashmir Shaivism, as I said. They taught nondual Hinduism. What they taught is empowering to say the least. 7. I write a lot about the Kashmir Shaivism tattva tree - with it's 36 levels. 8. Kashmir Shaivism's Lord Shiva has a female counterpart, Shakti, which I write about in detail, She is Lord Shiva's dynamic energy while Lord Shiva is Static energy. 9. I write about 2 mantras used in Kashmir Shaivism, hamsa and Aham.. 10. Meditation is mentioned in the title so, of course, I write about Hindu meditation. 11. Mandala and Yantra is mentioned in the title. I write about them as well. Mandala is a kaleidoscopic picture and Yantra is translated as a ""learning tool"". It's a symbolic picture which is an aid to meditation. 12. The book deals with monastery life in India. 13. I write about Kashmir Shaivism's Matrika Theory which is the alphabet theory of creation. 14. I write about purusha which is Kashmir Shaivism's individual soul. 15. I write about the 4 levels of human speech, its connection to our inner Self. 16. My guru also taught Kundalini Yoga and about how the Kundalini is awakened (activated) by a Kundalini master, my guru and his guru. 17. I write about the Vedic theory of prana in my book, translated as ""the breath of life"". 18. I write about how to stay in a blissful space in the book. 19. I write about death and reincarnation. 20. I write about Hindu Self-inquiry. 21. I give a lot of quotes by holy men to help readers stay in the spirit. 22. I write about Hindu reflection theory. 23. I write about Kashmir Shaivism's malas which are blocks which keep the individual soul ""bound"". And, I talk about upayas which are paths of Self -realization in Kashmir Shaivism. 24. Lastly, I write about the importance of one's religion.
