I could not put the book down and apart from match reports that are written with a modern feel there are also pieces written about what was going on in the world outside of football. I would definitely recommend this book to any football fan as its one of the best football books I have ever read. He collaborated on the acclaimed 'Total Football: Sunderland AFC 1935-37' -- published in 2008. Paul is the author of 'Sunderland AFC: The Offi cial History' and 'The Sunderland Miscellany'. Mark Metcalf is a life-long football fan with a particular passion for Sunderland AFC. Born in County Durham in 1959, he now lives in Halifax in West Yorkshire. Mark works as a freelance journalist, particularly for The Big Issue in the North, Backpass football magazine and the various publications of the trade union, Unite, including The Landworker.
