OverviewIn Pursuit of the Real McCoy is an historical narrative from 1813 to 1929 of an African American father who escaped slavery and his son born in Canada. The experiences of the father in Canada allowed the son to achieve an unheard-of education in Scotland leading to a life of invention to include 60 U.S. patents. Their story covers Michigan to Ontario to Scotland and back. It is of great interest to historians of the 19th century as well to students of African American culture. This history has never been adequately examined or published prior to this book and evidences the development of an African American whose greatness history has forgotten.
