Blair Hamelink's ""In Pursuit of Liberty & Fledge"" is a book of Bildungsroman poetry, or coming-of-age poetry. With absurdity, darkness, and wit, Blair finds himself time and time again at the ledge, contemplating, warbling, and holding onto too much: ""At the cliffedge / trying to relieve heavy curse / I assumed all my past bodies / dangling from my arms."" These poems struggle for liberty, seeking comfort in the mere ability to fly, trying to manifest lift, as if it was that easy, as if, all one had to do was will it.
