In Love and Heartbreak

Overview

""In Love and Heartbreak"" delves into the intricacies of what it means to be feverishly in love, experience it to the fullest with all its glory, various phases of being in love with the idea of a person, the illusion of being on cloud nine, the ecstasy that comes with the company of the beloved, the insecurities, raging doubts, the longing, gentle arguments, the apologizing, making up, and planting a garden full of delusions and watering it until love becomes too much to bear and ends up destroying and suffocating the relationship, and consequently, metamorphosing into a desert instead of an oasis of comfort and peace. Then comes the heartbreak, being abandoned by the beloved (the once lover), the endless waiting and the suffering attached to it, for greater the love, greater is the suffering. The placement of the poems in the book shifts constantly between the themes of hope, anger, and suffering to demonstrate how irregular healing can be and how unachievable it might look. This unevenness in themes might also be observed within the poems showcasing the lover's frantic feelings and their inability to overcome them even through the medium of writing. It is up to the reader to find healing in the waiting, to be in love with a person knowing they don't love you back and making peace with it somehow, to hope against pessimism and realism, to put faith in prayer and some higher entity to make the beloved one's lover, to make such an elaborate delusion and go insane like Qais, become the infamous Majnu, or to find the light in themselves and journey towards love once more.
